The name of this square is related to the big clock imported from Scotland in the begining of the 20th century. Also in this square it was constructed the building for the stock exchange Market which no longer exists.

The oficial name of this Square is Siqueira Campos, but most People Do not Know About it, they just called the Clock Square. It was Open to the public in October 1931 to honor him as one of the 18 members of the fight of the Copacabana Fort, Which happened in Rio de Janeiro in July 1922. The Monument was asked to be built by Antonio Faciola, in 1930 when the governor was Freitas Valle, according to records found in the books the the legislature branch.

Oficial Documents show that there was a request to the company Walters Macfarlaine to built the clock but there is a plate in the base of the tower that indicates that The tower of the clock was made by the British Company J. W. Benson and the clock brought to Brazil by the Scottish company Walters Macfarlaine
