Color: dark red, sometimes yellow or brown dots

Flowering time: November and December

Height: 6-8 cm

Mangostan has many different uses: As fruit, the shell tastes very bitter while the white pulp is sour, similar to grape, pineapple, peach and grapefruit. The pips are uneatable. The shell can be made as tea in the folk medicine and it has a lot of secondary plant compound. In Brazil, it is also used for digestion while Asians take it against inflammation and skin eruption. Some studies indicate the following effects: anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, against tumor and protects liver.
